Lauren Wallace
MSW Student
Lauren Wallace (she/her) is a final-year master’s student in the School of Social Work at UNC-Chapel Hill. She is a student intern with Neurodiversity Empowerment Services and an Inclusive TEAMS Scholar. I-TEAMS is a specialized program for MSW students interested in gaining training for supporting BIPOC and/or LGBTQIA+ youth and families. Lauren will be observing sessions and seeing individual clients at NDES. She hopes to build upon her clinical skills working from a strengths-based and client-centered perspective with neurodivergent individuals, including LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC identifying clients. Lauren is also interested in gaining experience in conducting clinical assessments and supporting neurodivergent clients who are experiencing co-occurring mental health concerns. Lauren hopes to learn how to better cultivate a nurturing environment for self-growth and healing for neurodivergent clients.
Before starting her master’s, Lauren received her B.S. in Psychology with a second major in Hispanic Linguistics from UNC-Chapel Hill. From her graduate program, Lauren has experience working as an Intern Behavioral Care Manager, where she provided case management, psychoeducation, and psychotherapy to adults experiencing mild to moderate depression and/or anxiety disorders. In this position, she learned about the gaps in mental healthcare for neurodivergent individuals with co-occurring mental health concerns. Lauren is excited for her personal growth as a future psychotherapist from working with NDES. The practice will be an excellent opportunity to build upon previous clinical experiences and knowledge.
