Sherry C. Mergner, MSW, LCSWFounder - Clinical Supervisor Sherry Mergner, MSW, LCSW (she/her), founded Neurodiversity Empowerment Services (NDES) in 2019 with a mission to provide neurodiversity-affirming support that empowers neurodivergent individuals and their families to foster resilience, self-advocacy, and self-determination. She brings over 40 years of experience in mental health, substance use, and developmental disabilities, with the past two decades dedicated to serving neurodivergent children, adolescents, adults, and caregivers. Sherry’s philosophy is grounded in the belief that neurodivergent identities are strengths, not deficits, and this commitment to affirmation guides all clinical work at NDES. In addition to her direct practice, Sherry has served as an educator, trainer, and clinical supervisor, advancing equity and inclusion for neurodivergent communities. She was honored with the UNC School of Social Work’s Excellence in Advancing Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Award in 2022 and 2024 for her leadership in autism, neurodiversity, and intellectual/developmental disability advocacy. Since relocating to Greensburg, PA in 2020, Sherry has continued to supervise provisionally licensed clinicians at NDES. While she no longer works with clients, she remains deeply engaged in supporting the practice, which will transition to a collective leadership upon her retirement in 2026.
