Sherry C. Mergner, MSW, LCSW
Founder - Clinical Supervisor
Sherry Mergner (pronouns: she/her) began Neurodiversity Empowerment
Services in 2019 to assist neurodivergent clients and their families to
harness their inner strength and live their best, most empowered lives.
Sherry has over 40 years of experience in the mental health, substance
abuse and developmental disability field. For the past 20 years Sherry’s
clinical work has focused on working with neurodivergent children, teens,
and adults as well as their families/caregivers. Sherry’s passion is
teaching skills and strategies that empower and strengthen social
cognition, emotional regulation, distress tolerance, relationship
effectiveness, self-advocacy, and self-determination within her clients.
She takes a neurodiversity affirming approach in all aspects of her work.
As a mother of a young Autistic adult, Sherry brings to her clinical work
deep empathy and perspective when working with neurodivergent
individuals and their families/caregivers. Sherry is a committed clinical
supervisor, clinician, educator, and trainer who works tirelessly to
advocate for the rights and dignity of neurodivergent individuals and
their families. In 2022 and 2024, Sherry received the Excellence in Advancing Diversity,
Equity and Inclusion Award from UNC, School of Social Work for her work in the area of
Autism, Neurodiversity, and Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities.
In December 2020, Sherry relocated to Greensburg, PA. She continues to
provide clinical supervision to the clinicians working at Neurodiversity
Empowerment Services. However, Sherry is not currently accepting new clients.
